Prevent Reps from Emailing Customers Who Don’t Want Commercial Emails

Reps can already set customer email opt out and granular email privacy preferences to opt out of commercial emails. Previously, reps weren’t warned about the customer’s preferences and the emails were still sent. But, customers may want to receive non-commercial emails only, such as product shipping updates and service plan changes. You can now prevent reps from sending emails to customers who want only non-commercial emails.

Where: This change applies to Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Who: Reps with the Send Non-Commercial Email permission can send non-commercial email. This permission is already enabled for all standard profiles that send email and for already-created custom profiles.

How: You must have the Email Opt Out field or Email Privacy enabled for this setting to take effect.

To prevent a rep from sending email to customers who have Email Opt Out or the Don’t Market email privacy setting, disable Send Non-Commercial Email in their permission set.
