Translate Feed Items on the Spot

When your users have a common interest but not a common language, you can help. Use Community Builder’s new translation setting to put a Translate with Google menu on every feed item. Translate posts, questions, comments, answers, and replies. Over 50 languages are available to get people talking. Translations are offered through a Google Cloud Translation API key that you provide.

Where: This change applies to Lightning communities accessed through Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic in Essentials, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions.

Why: A user can translate a feed item into the default language or select a different language.

  • To translate the feed item into the default language, click Translate with Google.

For community members, the default language comes from the locale that’s set on the user’s profile. For guest users, it comes from the locale set in the user’s browser.

  • To select a language, click the Translate with Google menu icon menu icon.

After translation, Translate with Google switches to View Original, so it’s easy to switch back to the original language.

How: In Community Builder, go to Settings | Languages and enter your Google Cloud Translation API key.
